Case Study
Background
A Senior Director I was working with was under serious pressure to deliver results. The problem? Their sales and ops systems were bogged down and stuck in the past — dragging down efficiency and profitability.
What We Did
1. The first thing I did after joining the tech team was meet with both the sales and operations folks. I wanted to hear directly from them — what was slowing them down, what they needed, and what ideas they had. It gave me a clear picture of the problems and helped build trust right away.2. After digging in with the team and reviewing the system in detail, a few major pain points stood out — stuff that was clearly holding them back and needed to be addressed before anything else could move forward.3. With those issues mapped out, I worked closely with their internal tech crew to design a cleaner, more intuitive system architecture. The new setup cut down on unnecessary clicks and made the whole platform easier to navigate — and people really noticed the difference.4. We rolled out the new structure carefully. Instead of flipping a switch and hoping for the best, we planned each phase and made sure everyone was ready for the changes. That way, the transition felt smooth and didn’t disrupt daily work.5. We also took the opportunity to clean up a lot of technical debt — tearing out a bunch of old Process Builders and Workflow Rules and rebuilding everything in Flow. It was cleaner, faster, and way easier to maintain.6. On top of that, we launched High Velocity Sales and added a much more capable Dialer system. The results were immediate — the sales team more than doubled their daily outreach.7. I knew budget was a concern, so I negotiated with Salesforce directly on their behalf, securing a 20% discount on their annual contract. That freed up room for other improvements without increasing costs.8. With a strong foundation in place, we were finally able to support several new product and service launches. Everything was built with scalability and clean reporting in mind, so the team could grow without hitting roadblocks down the line.
Outcome
The project wasn’t just about fixing broken stuff — it was about making their tools work for them again. By collaborating closely with their team, we boosted sales activity, made operations more efficient, cleaned up years of technical debt, and saved the company money in the process. Most importantly, people were happier using the tools they rely on every day.

About

Hi, I’m Kevin, a technology implementation professional. My passions include creating & implementing complex enterprise applications in addition to managing people and projects. I focus on enhancing change, as well as driving efficiency and information flows.I grew up in Washington State before moving to California to attend Chapman University’s Argyros School of Business and Economics. In 2011, I graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. Fast forward more than a decade and I now have a wife and three sons. The idea for On Sunlight was chosen for our love of the outdoors and especially sunshine!
Fun

Backpacking and Conservation
Backpacking has been a passion of ours for some years now. As natives to the Northwest, any time we can get out on the trail to experience a cool mountain breeze is an accomplishment. For five summers between ages 12 and 17, I participated in a large restoration project called Mountains to Sound, which focused on deconstruction of logging roads and repair of clear-cut forests.
New Zealand
In my junior year at Chapman University, I had the opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand for six months. While there, I learned about myself and fell in love with the great people there. In New Zealand, I had a chance to get real outdoor experience and kept a blog while backpacking throughout the north and south islands.

You Have Arrived!
In 2017 we took time off to travel the United States. Our final post sums up the experience:Over 12,000 miles driven, 300 miles hiked, 88 days, 27 states, 15 national parks, 3 oil changes, 2 happy campers and 1 4Runner. We’ve driven, hiked, biked, ferried, kayaked, canoed, portaged, walked, ran, swam, fished, backpacked, and camped. We’ve seen snow and sleet, and been sunburned the next day. Our love and appreciation for the outdoors started the idea of this trip, and it has grown tenfold over the course of it. We’ve laughed and cried and learned so much along the way and neither of us would do anything different.
Currently
Raising our three boys in Montana! We would love to be completely self-sustaining with a small hobby farm someday. The On Sunlight Farm would be a natural progression for us but there's lots of opportunities out there and plenty of time to decide on what comes next!
